Me (operating as GB0CAM) in conversation with M6FTY on 2 meters simplex. Distance in this instance only a handful of miles (hence I lowered the output to just under 1W), the greatest distance worked with this set on this day was 58 miles for 6 watts output. The rig is an Icom IC20, an old crystal-channelled yet fairly portable affair. Yes, the battery did hold out all day. Just.
(Oh, and the little green Gecko on top is essential. Honest. it just ain't the same without it....) |
